$30,000 raised from the Saigon Cyclo Challenge 2011

The annual charity race named Saigon Cyclo Challenge 2011 took place in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7 on Saturday with its organizer – the Saigon Children’s Charity – raised a total fund of over US$30,000 for helping poor children in Vietnam.
Nine philanthropic firms sponsored the this year’s event, including VNG Zing, HSBC, Megastar, Adidas, VinaLiving, Hoang Long Hoan Vu JOCs, Crown, Jardines Group, and Baker & McKenzie.
The cyclo team from HSBC were the first one that crossed the destination line of the race around the Crescent Lake.
VNG Zing won the second prize and Megastar the third-place winner of the event held for both charity and fun.
The Saigon Children’s Charity started its operation in Vietnam almost 20 years ago and helped 40,000 orphans and poor and disabled children having chance to go to school.
SCC has also assisted localities in building schools, offering vocational training and giving scholarships to children in remote provinces.
