Vietnam calls for ceasefire in Libya

Vietnam calls for relevant parties to immediately put an end to military activities in Libya and quickly start a dialogue for peaceful solutions, foreign ministry spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga said Wednesday.
Nga said at a press briefing that Vietnam, together with other countries, are following with deep concern the military moves in Libya that have cost civilian lives.
She said Vietnam supports all efforts by relevant parties, regional and international organizations that respect the Charter of the United Nations, international law, independence and sovereignty of all nations.
A coalition force led by the US, France and Britain launched air strikes against Libya on Saturday. Several countries, including China, India and Russia have called for a ceasefire, saying the intervention was hurting civilians.
