Prosecutors in the central province of
Nghe An Friday said they are going to charge a former officer with
“trafficking drugs” by helping two prisoners bring them into prison.
According to
the indictment, as head of Detention Center No.3 in Tan Ky District,
Nguyen Van Mien joined hands with Truong Dinh Thong and Nguyen Quang
Cuong, both prisoners, to sell drugs to other prisoners.
Thong and
Cuong gave money to Hoang Nghia Dong in Hung Nguyen District via Mien.
Dong purchased the drugs and sent it back to them also through Mien.
The drugs were divided into small bags and sold to other prisoners.
Prosecutors
said the ring had carried out their operation many times before police
found some heroin worth VND4 million (US$191) hidden in a pair of
slippers that Dong sent to Mien by post last May.
