The three human traffickers are Ha Van Ngoc, and Phan Thi Sen, and the ring’s leader Nguyen Thanh Hieu, a.k.a. Lili.
The fourth member of the ring are being wanted, said lieutenant colonel Pham Quang Cong, head of the police division in charge of social crimes (PC45).
All suspects have been charged with human trafficking. Hieu and Ngoc were also charged with “children trafficking”, the police officer said.
Hieu confessed to police that from 2010 to the time of his arrest, his ring sold 11 women aged between 14 and 20 from Ho Chi Minh City, Kien Giang, Can Tho, Long An, Tay Ninh, and Dong Nai to another human-trafficking ring led by a man, only known as Nam. Hieu was paid from VND8 million (US$384) to VND15 million ($720) for each girl sold.
The victims are said to be lured into prostitution with false promises of well-paid jobs at restaurants, hotels, and karaoke lounges based in China.
After bringing these women across the border to China, Nam sold them to brothels there. Some of the victims later escaped and reported the case to local police.
